I think the mission was A Day on the front 1916 v1.2

was it me or something broken?

I haven't been able to find the bug in the mission. Can you please tell me which aircraft/which airfield?

Once again SYN designers/mission makers lead the way. What a clever well thought out online mission. We at BH say SALUTE and sausage and beer on us in the hut. We have all had a great deal of fun on these maps and of course want more more more. Never satisfied... Actually had one of my mates on the other night and he was sneaking in a late night one with the wife a light sleeper, he could not use his TS and found out how much more challenging it is when you can't talk with each other... THANKS so much for taking the kill messages out... they ruin the game. You should have to do something to get to see your scoreboard such as wait until it's posted the next day... heh heh... I know, too evil for much of the crowd... but when there were only a few people on this was a real delight. I have not seen it with a crowd because my work schedule allows me online access at poor times for everyone else.

If your still taking requests, throwing in the Gotha would be so great... we have 4 guys now that really enjoy flying it and bombing from altitude (they have been bitten with the bug) and I know that it is often more popular in "Stuka" mode... but we love the big bomber missions and seeing 3 or 4 in a group is a lot of fun. Also, just a reminder that the Roland has an ENORMOUS fuel tank, and full fuel on it gives it longer range than the Gotha... 4 1/2 hours at higher speed... so if you need to siphon some off, that would be a great place to start.

Thanks a million, you guys lead the way in mission design hands down.

It must be just my bad luck. I tried to join at 7:30 pacific and the mission that was up was "A day at the front 1916v1.2" but I would get dropped everytime at the loading screen. Would get may three quarters the way across and than bumped to the hanger ever time.

Running Mods off, no issues on other servers. Will watch to see when the mission changes and try again. Was hoping to send a pile over on Tuesday night to try it out.

Will post again later tonight to see if the mission changed and try a different mission

Hi Geezer. We'll look into these issues and also add a heavy bomber or two :).

Just in the FWIW department... at BH we are talking about getting another group/sqd and pick a night and have some fun with your server. Everyone really likes it and now they are reading all the good press on the forum (777) so it seems logical that we get another group of players and each take a side and have some fun with it... I know it would be even better to play it from both sides... once on the Central and then reset the server and then play the same thing on the Entente side.... that ought to produce some really interesting conversations eh???

Vander the WingWalkers had a successful night on the server. We had about 8 flyers, put four on each side. It took a little getting used to all the messages and what they meant.
By the end of the night we got the hang of it.

Would like to ask some questions to makes sure I understand the mission logic

When there is a bomber mission it appears a few bombers spawn, take off and circle the base a few times. subtitles warn you its coming, tell you to get in the air, but once the bombers circle the base a few times, they fire a flare and typically a mission objective for the bombing run is posted

question, if no one joins the bombers do they still go fly their mission regardless?
Similar for the patrols?

The experience I had that was most successful was I circled the base with the bombers and saw the flair and the target message ( motor pool west of Ypre). I had a live pilot escort and the AI bombers went in an odd direction ( not west towards the target). It had been along night so I took my escort and went straight to the target. Once I got west of Ypres we got intercepted by some enemy fighters, but I spotted the motor pool, made my run and destroyed at least eight of the vehicles. Just as I pulled out of my low level bomb run, the AI dropped bombs from high alt and the target was destroyed. My impatience not staying with bombers likely meant they took a longer route to get to higher altitude. If I had been a good wingmate I should have stayed with the flight.

I guess my main advice to folks flying these, if you like to cowboy around and just fly the map you might not run into very much action, but if you pay attention to the subtitles and fly with the other pilots betting the mission builder will make sure you run into something!

Thanks Vander we enjoyed it this time, think will enjoy it more next time.

That is also what we have seen... the flights are pre-announced by a Morse identifier that you can hear from the map screen or the Spectate screen. You won't be able to read the text unless you have clicked FLY NOW (I think) and even if you are just sitting on the ramp engine off you can still read the plan at hand. The bombers do bomb at 1,500 and do a reasonably good job of hitting the target. If you are not up front, they will kill everything before you can get a shot... so stay with them... but be the first over the target. They don't always go to a straight in IP, but sometimes crank it around before dropping their load. The flights alternate between patrol and bomber. The trick for me to learn was that if you want a bomber, when you see a bomber, you better grab it. The warning that a bomber flight is about to launch means get one now, and pick your ordinance and don't tarry or you will get the dreaded Flight not possible due to airfield has changed message. Glad to see some encouragement on bombing from altitude so we have more contestants this year in the annual GET BOMBED for New Year's high altitude bombing contest!

Thanks again Vander... and Geezer if you want to split a map with BH let me know and we will get a time and meet you guys there.
