I certainly am no capitalist, the quest for more and more money/power/influence is the evil driving this world to the brink of environmental and social destruction.

That said, IMHO "universal wage" is not going to work either. The concept is much too simple. It may work in an acceptable fashion in an ideal environment, i.e. a small town with good education and public facilities, but one only has to consider larger cities where urban decay has set in, where local education is failing to provide youth with the tools to grow self-confidence and learning skills. It is only the exceptional individual that can pull themselves out of a family that has only experienced 5 generations of welfare.

In a society where family has fallen apart and there is no 'community', you are faceless and there are no repercussions for your lack of motivation (i.e. your mother nagging you to get a job...) or worse crime/anti-social behaviour.

There are no quick answers, no magic pill, and no politicians are willing or able to put in truly meaningful long term plans that won't simply get trashed by the next administration.

Bandy, I can tell you that in Philly, this would be an utter disaster, for the reasons you have set forth.

Wolfie wakes up to find his neighbourhood embedded in a social experiment, and that he's not the surprisingly well-equipped soldier/pilot he thought he was (who hunted zombies on the side...).

Take off the rose-tinted VR goggles and smell the coffee!
You don't play/make games for a living!!! Oh, you do!??! My bad...
