Loaded it as a summer school-break for my son (hey, it's history related, in some way...) and we gave it a try together. Lots of fun! Arguably it is not so much like WoT on waves, or at least it seems to feel and 'play' somewhat differently. Lower tier ships can really contribute to the battle if handled well; they are not instantaneous moments of grief, unless you wander off by yourself...

Liked it enough to load it on my gaming system and we fought some more together through the learning levels, though still do not have the hang of destroyers or launching torpedoes. Handling an aircraft carrier looks positively frenetic in some of the community videos!

That said, it makes me hunger for something along the lines of a Jutland-style early Dreadnaught game.

It is very relaxing because the tempo is much lower... Less raging as well.

If you press '3' to arm your torpedoes, press 'X' when aiming at your target. A grey line will show where you need to aim your torps. All torps have max distances though so no shooting at targets 10km away when your torps go 6.

and the biggest mistake when you first start: Once you make level 2 on your account you can fight random battles. Use the pulldown menu next to the battle button. Up until now you where fighting WG bots, and you hardly make XP and credits.

Thanks for the tips. I don't know, the AI still spanks me sometimes...

I haven't noticed anywhere where you can join others and "platoon" , is this implemented yet?

I really enjoy the game. It has aspects in every ship line that really fill out the game play for me.
Playing as a destroyer is a lot of fun after studying up a bit, watching tons of videos etc. I'm a couple of thousand points away from the start of the carrier class and from what I've seen that can really be tons of fun with plane management and birds eye view of the whole battle area. I seem to do really well with gunnery regarding citadel shots which is a shock because I was never talented in tanks.

Oh Vander, don't be a stick in the mud and install it for your boy.
You'll watch him, and then end up playing some, and in no time have your own fleet.
