Il2 Online Campaign

Postby SYN_Vander » Fri Jan 13, 2012 6:30 pm

Guys we briefly discussed this the other night and I think it's a great idea. Let's do a co-op campaign on IL2 every thursday. At least one mission and if there is more time then head over to Hyperlobby Dogfight Servers.

My personal preference would be a Pacific campaign. The maps look great (You usually don't get to see the ugly roads and towns) and I love the plane set plus there is the bonus of carrier take-off's and landings! :)

I would love to make a co-op campaign but I'm not going to do it. The amount of time I spend on RoF mission making is already more then it should be. I just would like to enjoy the missions and fly this time!

So is anyone else capable of either creating or generating (DCG) such a campaign, one mission a week?
Or try one of the ones available at Mission4today? See here:

DCG campaign. Can these be made into coops quickly? - http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... oads&c=583

Online Co-ops: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... nloads&c=6

@ Koll, I've found an online "Battle for Holland" campaign! :)

the problem with these camaigns is that they are all quite old and don't use all the good stuff from the mods!
Does anyone else know some good download sites?

Oh, my requirements for a coop campaign would be:

-minimum of 8 player slots on both side, so 16 in total
-preferably with historical setting and briefing
-No 4 hrs flight time, so air start if needs be

Well, I did some poking around and it seems that Lowengrins DCG can do the job for us. It does alot of fronts including the pacific, MIdway, Guadalcanal, Guam etc.
I installed the little proggy and it´s very straight forward and with alot of posibilites! :)

Cool! Do they use new maps as well? Although for the Pacific, some of the old maps are already quite nice (Midway, Wake, Tarawa)

Just created another coop using an awesome new Pacific map, "Caroline Islands". I noticed you can now use catapults to launch from a carrier. I do this by carefully taxiing to the catapult, then hit chocks again and I'm automatically lined up. Releasing chocks will then launch me off the ship. The AI however seem to teleport directly to the catapult; can a human player do that as well??

Not to my knowledge, I believe players have to taxi up close to the Cat.

Okay, cool. We'll have to practice it a bit then. Not that hard; I haven't failed so far.

About the Pacific mission: Discussed this with Jed and if I make 4 variants of current misison and we fly both sides (either all or split up) we already have 8 missions for our weekly co-op.

mission 1: Medium alt bombing attack on island
mission 2: Allies attack harbour and ships in the bay (rockets & torpedoes)
mission 3: Japanese attack Allied task force (ships)
mission 4: Allies do low-level airfield strike (rockets and dive bombing)

or something like that. Any cool ideas? In the current mission we have:

F6F Hellcats
F4U Corsairs
TBM-3 Avenger (can have torpedoes)

Ki-61 Tony
J2M Raiden
G4M Betty (can have torpedoes)
A6M-N Zero (floatplane)
