Thanks Wolf, I'll check that out.

It's just like Blackie is saying, it doesn't matter if the controllers are plugged in or not. Il2 won't find the new controller because Windows has assigned some id number to it(above 4). And that id can't be changed,or some sort of thing.....I don't know, but it's a PITA

The good thing about PPjoy...that it will become your no 1 joystick from windows perspective.

I will need to install it. My IL2 1946 does not recognise my rudder pedals.

Have it installed again and patched up to HSFX 7 + updater. Took around 30-45 minutes. But now I still have to get my graphics settings right and map some controls...

Takes about 10mins....drop in and I will walk thro it with ya....pretty straight forward.

P.s. set as many controls same as BoS for ease of memory.

Had a great little flight in IL2 1946 yesterday with Dan and Jed. I have to say this game has evolved nicely. If only the graphics were up to today's standard (hi res textures, shadows etc)!
I have created a little co-op "Flying Tigers" mission we can use one day. If only RoF/BoS mission editor was so simple to use! :)

Ok I've finally gotten my install up to 4.12.1/HSFX 7.0.3. and reworked my controls so it is functional at least. I couldn't make those virtual joystick programs work after much trying, and finally said "@#$% it!", and just remapped to the controls that are working.
Now it's working, but I'm not getting very good performance from Il2. The graphics are kinda hiccupping every second or so. Very noticeable during barrel rolls or fast panning. Frames are locked at 60 but still it stutters. Weird. Any ideas?

Hopefully I can iron out the wrinkles and be around for Tuesdays mission. Fingers crossed.

Now this is something I have struggled with aswell...the hiccuping thing. I can only assume it is something to do with cores transferring or something. Back in the day we used to set affinity so that tracker used one core and il2 used the other. Can't remember the name of the program but try doing it manually in task manager and see if it helps.

Jed could be right since IL2 is single core and the patches are ultimately pushing the limit of the process. The OS may be trying to bounce the thread around between cores so no single core is generating all the heat. Also try turning off the 60 fps limiter.

Process lasso https://bitsum.com/processlasso/ has a shareware version that does assign core affinity and much more such as specific .exe profiles etc... I liked it so much I got the Pro version just to support the dev.

Yes, you can do the same thing via windoze, but you have to do it every time and it becomes a pain.
