Loving Il2 more since today...

Postby SYN_Haashashin » Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:46 am

Hey Guys;

I have been in love with the B-17 Flying Fortress since I was a "Kid", will allways remember "B17 The flying fortress" by Microprose. Well, I was tonight flying online, to get a hold of this sim, and I saw the B17 on it...of course I set up everything and get the beauty up in the air...still need to re-learn how to properly use its magnificent Bombsight but...

Thats the main reason for this post hehehe I can finally fly my baby in decently, if I get the campaigns I found in Mission4today to work...

Also will love to do a sortie in any kind of altitude bomber in a coop, so if someone want to join and jump in the bomber crew that would be great ;).

Great discovery for me this IL2.

Lovely Hash, I also had B17, I quite enjoy the challenge of bombing, I think the best sim i played for that was Tornado, looking back it was brilliant but having seen screenshots since, the graphics were pretty terrible, surprising how the mind fills in the blanks. Will jump in the gunner with you one time, would be great fun if we took two out online and had the squadron gunning, so two fully manned bombers.

We could of course take one each too, and go flatten a target!
What a flight! And what chaos! :grin:
I can settle for a gunner position...

Ok, just got 2 campaigns:

Big Bird: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... ils&id=923 (B17 campaign)
Finest Hour: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... ils&id=981 (RAF campaign)

Ok, now i got them to work. B17 is nice, but still not able to use any other position but pilot and bombardier, even the Norden Bombsight is not represented, its can be fun to defense those big formations I saw, and of course I will get one german campaign to shoot down B17s....ohhh and the water showhow is all black...kill it a lil bit...
The RAF is BoB missions...is nice to see those big formations..I never saw it after EAW..even I get shoot down second pass hehehe

Tried a swiss campaign. (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... ls&id=1013)

P.S We should do a raid or something someday..just be sure one of us knows how to use the bombsight hehehe

Haash, if you are looking for a campaign flying German aircraft against B17s, I would recommend FlatSpinMan's "defense of the Reich" campaigns. I have not flown them but I have flown several others of his ("Luftwaffe Pilot" series) and can say he does great work.

I'd also recommend "Ba$tards of the Slot," a "just-for-fun" non-historical campaign he made, that has some challenging flying scenarios and some good laughs.
