A NON-PROFESSIONAL creative software reference thread for 3D modeling and modding textures and the like.
Just a place to put known resources you may have found, and liked.

AwesomeBumpv5.0 -- Free

If you want to just fool around with subdivision modeling, or give your kids a start, Wings3D is relatively easy to learn and -- free...

GIMP an image manipulation tool with layers (a la Photoshop) -- Free
There is a plug in for it named GIMPshop that makes the GUI look just like PS too...

OR if you want a a license free (but older, still fully functional) version of PS look to this link I provide (ie it is legit)

Btw, I emailed Jason and he told me he really would like some help in testing the sdk 3d plugins for IL2. The current one (IL2) can't be used which was not intentional, but in theory it should work just the same as in RoF, so we have a head start! As soon as there is something to test he'll let me know.

Did he mention anything in particular, or what do you have in mind?
They mention torpedoes, so how about initially working to our strengths and providing some targets for 'em?

But perhaps they already have basic cargo ships, I mean, why not just use the ones from RoF right? Tramp steamer design and similar ships would not have changed, and in fact I would think many WWI era cargo ships were still floating in WWII, at least for a bit of time...

Would the Drifter be out of place on the Black Sea as a simple fishing boat? At least use it as a test of the SDK. Also I do not see a compelling reason not to include it unarmed, or maybe just a small machine gun to let it defend itself.

Soviet MTBs There were many different types of these, and armored coastal patrol boats.

Best plan/drawing I could find
