Interesting opinions on hardware/drivers, etc.

Durante is the fellow that came up with the necessary mod to make the first Dark Souls playable on PC. The port over from console by devs was completely messed up apparently, they even admitted they didn't know what they were doing.

Anyways, I found his blog in which he provides some good insight on hardware optimization etc. http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/ He wrote an article for PC Gamer on the subject http://www.pcgamer.com/what-optimization-really-means-in-games/ and his blog is an expansion to that (scroll to second entry).

Trust you may find this interesting, for example...

[talked with] Croteam’s Dean Sekulic about driver optimization as “pure magic”, and cautioning people to think twice before complaining about driver quality. I’ve said before that I imagine GPU drivers to easily be among the most complex software projects out there these days, between the strict performance requirements, massive feature sets, and compatibility/regression nightmare in both hardware and software.
Lest we forget...
