my G940 ffb settings, @Repent

Postby SYN_Mugue » Mon Jan 30, 2017 3:07 pm

As promised....Here's my settings.
firmware vers. 1.42
Driver & software vers. 5.10.127 (FYI, I don't run the profiler software, I just setup the controls in game)

Game Controllers/Logitech G940 Joystick Properties/Settings
-----------------------------------------------------------
FORCE FEEDBACK
--------------
ffb=enabled (Um, duhhh!)
Overall Effects Strength=78%*
Spring Effect Strength=68% <I think this only applies to games that don't have "real" ffb.
Damper Effect Strength=78%*
-----------------------------------------------------------
CENTERING SPRING
----------------
Centering Spring in Force Feedback Games=disable
Centering Spring Strength=0%
(I believe, this must be off for the stick to go completely slack at 0 air speed, otherwise the stick
will act like a non ffb stick but with shaking effects)
-----------------------------------------------------------
If the stick has had the firmware updated to v1.42, (which I STRONGLY, DO NOT recommend, unless the stick is unusable with "the reversal bug"!!).
You'll have another settings button called "Hysteresis".

I have all these set to the lowest possible=10

-----------------------------------------------------------
My In games(RoF,BoS,DCS) settings are:
Shaking=~70%
Force Feedback Power=100%

I find that with these settings, I get good feedback without being overpowered by shaking effects which throw my aim off.
Also it mutes the ground rolling effect to a more manageable level.

*These two are the settings that do the real adjusting, for flight sims, as far as I can tell.
Crank them up or down to suit your preference. (I have read that maxing these shortens the life of the motors and gears..., but if you like it WTF, burn it up I say! That's what it's for, right?

If you find some setting you like better, post them so I can give'em a try, please.
I'd also love to hear your comparison of the ffb between the Sidewinder and the G940. My guess is that the Sidewinder is more accurate, but the G940 is more adjustable and has more buttons.(which you'll soon become addicted to. :wink: )

In regards to the throttle and rudder pedals...the throttle was Ok, imho, I used it for many years.+'s Many buttons!, -'s spiky pots :cry: . I did replace it with a warthog throttle in the end.
The pedals I thought looked great. I really wanted to like them. But in practice I found, they suck. And I immediately switched back to my old Saitec ones. When I broke the Saitec's, I tried them again to find, "Yup! they still suck!" And promptly got some Crosswinds(The Best thing since sliced bread!).

I hope this helps and you enjoy your new hardware. Cheers. :grin:

I have similar settings!

FORCE FEEDBACK
--------------
ffb=enabled
Overall Effects Strength=120%*
Spring Effect Strength=0%
Damper Effect Strength=0%*
-----------------------------------------------------------
CENTERING SPRING
----------------
Centering Spring in Force Feedback Games=disable
Centering Spring Strength=0%

Hysteresis: lowest possible=10

My In games(RoF,BoS,DCS) settings are:
Shaking=50%
Force Feedback Power=100%

Better would be shaking=0 for aiming, but i like to feel when the wheels are coming up.

@Muge: Did you had any problems in any SIMs when you used the G940 stick only? Do you let the pedals and throttle connected or do you use the stick only?

I haven't had any problems using only the stick.

Though, in my current setup, I do have the throttle installed. I use it for the buttons, and right and left propeller pitch in multi engine aircraft in BoS, and for various other "lesser" controls in DCS. The rudder pedals just sit in the closet, like always. :evil: I believe, if you're not going to use the pedals or throttle it's best to disconnect them because they each take up a USB address and draw power. Unlike, say, my old Saitec X52, which only uses one USB address for both throttle and stick or the Warthog which can run both throttle and stick as a unified controller with the Target software...

Though if you don't have a lot of controllers plugged in, I guess it doesn't matter. I've got a lot of stuff plugged in. :cool:
