wounded: out of action for a while

Postby SYN_Mike77 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 6:25 pm

Bad news here guys. My great new computer went tits up on me today. After talking to the people at iBuypower (the company that I bought from) I am having to send it back for repairs or to replace the video card. I will be out of action for at least 2 weeks probably for the rest of the year.

Hey I had this rig for almost 4 months, what do I expect from American business?

Bad luck Mike, sorry to hear of your woes.

What were you symptoms of system failure if I might ask?

When I would turn on the computer every thing would fire up except the monitor. I swapped out monitors and 3 different sets of cables 1 hdmi and two different dvi cables mated with the various monitors. Every time I got nothing from the monitor except the no signal message. Pretty sure it is a bad video card. The card was a founders edition of the nvidia 1070, I thought that should have been a good card. Luckily it's under warranty still and I payed an extra $10 for "free" shipping to and from the factory if something went wrong. That was a good move on my part!

Hopefully, if it's just the graphics card then they should get it replaced and swapped out pretty quickly.

I'm guessing that the vast majority of the time is going to be spent in transit from here to there and back again.

Hopefully you got your system back to them before the holiday rush of orders.

I swear every time that I'm going to part out, order, and make my own system...

Well I heard back from ibuypower. They replaced the video card and ran several days of stress test and with the new card all is well. My rig is boxed up and will ship out Monday. Right into the worst of the christmas rush. Maybe I'll get it back this year after all!

I guess I can't even blame ibuypower either.

Good news! Unless you are rural, I think you'll be surprised how fast it gets there. Fingers crossed now that I said that...

I'm sorry, this is completely odd observation, why didn't they send you the video card in the first place?
