So, just for fun, lets start a list of games we were fond of back in the day, games that you sat and played for hours on end.

Ill start

The great escape 1986 commodore 64 and spectrum 128k

Sort of isometric 3d, seemed very good for its time, although now it looks terrible, this game was so hard, but kept me captivated for hours, sneaking around, stealing wire cutters, hiding from german prison guards and their dogs.

Attending roll calls in a morning and evening, going for meals, all getting in the way of aimlessly wandering around where you shouldnt be, digging tunnels and such, i never did actually escape........years of trying and i think i was probably never even close.

As a sidenote, i remember ocean being a great developer/distributor of some of the best games back then.

Well....Elite of course! On the C64.

Proper 3d graphics and 10000000 star systems. "Grinding" had not been invented yet, but we did it all the same

(just noticed this is a German version... :| )

I never did play the original elite, the music on those early games was horrendous, especially whilst you was waiting for them to load!!

I always stayed away from games consoles, up until the release of the playstation one, whilst everyone else was playing sonic and mario i was spending hours playing this beauty

This was great, you built up your own roster of airmen, whos stats were recorded, so if you lost a veteran, you really felt it, was a good mix of flight sim and i suppose rts, commanding raids for the germans, or scrambling spits and hurricanes for the brits.

This was their sophisticated copy protection device

A cupboard full of my favourite early PC games, kept for nostalgia only. Ignore the French one, that needs storing in the loft

Yes, EAW was great! And GT Sports Car as well. It's from the guys that later created rfactor.
I don't have all the boxes, but I did keep a number of manuals. Some classics here:

Sadly I no long have my Tornado by Digital integration, I think it was on the Amstrad CPC, may have been the Amiga but it was brilliant.
