Arma3 <brainless zombie> 'startup parameters' settings

Postby SYN_Bandy » Sat Dec 17, 2016 9:15 am

As requested. These things are also known as 'steam launch options', and there is quite a bit written about them, and apparently quite a bit unknown. Many say they are placebo, but they are so easy to implement I've given them a try and believe they solved some of my issues like screen tearing and fps smoothness.

https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Startup_Parameters

while still in steam:

1) Go to your games library
2) Right click on the ArmaIII library 'shortcut'
3) Select properties
4) Click "Set launch options"

In the window you type or copy/paste sections of code, leaving a space between them, so...

For Hyperthreaded CPU's such as some quad core chips you will enter this:
-enableHT

The following code doesn't lock the VRAM; this gets around a Win7 bug where all VRAM is not recognized (seems to be my case as seen on DXDIAG)
-d3dNoLock

And these others are self explanatory, mostly. There are many more of these types of settings to explore...
-noPause [really only for SP, as you can't pause in MP anyways]
-noSplash
-nologs [this one apparently improves fps significantly for some]
-world=empty [speeds up load time but doesn't affect getting to your server destination]

To include all of the above the following would be entered into that thin window you accessed. Simple eh?
-enableHT -d3dNoLock -noPause -noSplash -nologs -world=empty
Lest we forget...

Looking around Armaholic. Wouldn't it be interesting to combine this and that...?

Tried it already with Wolfie! ZOmbies are quite scary. The map is not finished yet though; the zombies could walk through walls and stuff...
If you can find a mission as well then I'm game!

With some interesting comment...
With such idiots you see very well what community arma3 have:Only a young children-mainstream-community they want to make a milsim to a brainless mainstreamgame. The great milsim like ofp,arma1 and arma 2 (before release of the idiots-mod dayz) is gone, the ♥♥♥♥ children-plattform for young kiddies is born!

I'm game to try, it seems very little pain to set up, so why not? Let's reclaim our brainless youth!
Easy settings of course...

The ending is priceless. Such fidelity, I didn't know that you could drift a vehicle in the corner in arma. ...
