DCS: Normandy 1944 Map

Our map team is hard at work bringing the Normandy map to completion with most of the work focusing on bug clean up and tuning. We are getting close! Once the map is available for pre-purchase, we will announce the release date.

One question we often read about the Normandy map is if non-World War II units will work with it. It certainly will! In fact, we think many of you will find it an amazing map for helicopters and close air support aircraft in particular.

For this update, we’ve included several images of many modern day DCS World unit types in the Normandy map.

Stunning!

All 3d models (buildings etc) look very clean though, I think they need to be toned down/weathered still, but I hope that is on the to-do list....

Looking good. Needs many more planes, even if just ai, for targets. Not sure if I really like having to buy the WWII "assets" in addition to the map and the planes. But I guess paid DLC is the world we live in now, it's just hard for an old codger like me to take sometimes.

'member when we used to get complete games for $60 or less?

...and a really posh looking glossy 5000page manual that weighed about a kilo (2.2lb for you) which no one ever read.

A vital aspect of creating an authentic World War II battlefield is to populate it with matching artificial intelligence (AI) World War II assets. The DCS: World War II Assets Pack provides numerous World War II air, land and sea assets to populate the Normandy and other DCS World maps with. Eagle Dynamics has spent the last three year creating an entirely new set of combat vehicles to support DCS: World War II, and each unit is created with an exceptional level of detail and accuracy.

Tanks and Mobile Artillery
M4A4 Sherman VC Firefly
M4 Sherman with "Rhino" hedge cutter
Mk VIII Cromwell
Sd.Kfz. 162 Jagdpanzer IV
Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger I
Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf. B Tiger II
Pz.Kpfw. V Panther
Pz.Kpfw. IV
Sd.Kfz. 166 Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär
Sd.Kfz. 173 Panzerjäger V Jagdpanther

Cars and Trucks
Jeep Willys
Truck CCKW 353
Bedford MWD
Kübelwagen 82
Truck Blitz 36-6700A

Steam Train and Cars
DRG Class 86 locomotive
Tank wagon
G10 covered wagon
DR 50 Ton Flat Wagon Type SSys

Anti-Aircraft Artillery
Bofors 40 mm gun
8.8 cm Flak Gun 18, 36, & 37
2 cm Flak 30/38/Flakvierling

Ships
LCVP Higgins
LST Mk2
USS Samuel Chase

Infantry
US soldier
UK soldier
German soldier

Aircraft
B-17G bomber

So the map I'll get will be dead/empty? That's pretty lame... I'll first check out the map, planes and online performance before I buy into the "assets" me thinks.

I readed somewhere that if you participated in the KS with 20 or more you get the map and the assets. What this split means is that people that didn't participate in the KS have to pay 60 if you ever want to play online, if server use the assets you have to have it to join in, plus a plane....If I ever buy it I will have to wait for a very good deal.

As of now I will have to spend close to 100 euros, and on not finished product but betas so...no thanks for now.
