Thank you Mugue, it's now working with my MiG-21. And it isn't working anymore with the MiG-15 with the lua files in "Saved Games". I'm wondering if I've been fooled by some remainders in my config files, and if the copy of lua files into the "Saved Games" directory has never actually worked :-\

Well, I think we should rely on this JSGME mod manager to have a quick restore way after DCS updates...

Hey! to any knowledgeable person,

When I download and install a new skin in DCSW. Will others just see it in a multiplayer game? or, Do they have to have the same skin installed too to see it? (eg. RoF...)

The reason being, I was poking around on the "ED store DL page" and found many sweet looking skins for the F-86 that look like polished metal instead of that, fake plastic mat grey of the default skins. I was hoping to use some of them. (so can I look like one of the cool kids  )

Just guessing, but would say any DL skins would have to also reside on client side to be seen by others. To make a MP game otherwise would be, shall we say, less than net performance efficient.

What you say is true, Bandy, and likely correct.
Though old Il2-Il2-1946 did it without any real trouble, and much of DCS's functionality seems to be from the same time frame...so, I had hope enough to ask the question.
I'll find out for sure, the next time we put up a server, but I was just wondering...

If you ever get the chance to come to DC, do let me know, we can meet up/I can take you to Udvar-Hazy (NASM). The real skins are quite nice up close, and the difference between the two is quite striking, like a well-crafted sports car and a utility truck.

Looking at them, perhaps its not so surprising that the MiG gear was user unfriendly. The little I've read, there were many design compromises on the MiG, like those ugly vertical stabilizers kludged onto the wings. Maybe just me, but it's surprising their performance was so closely matched. Imagine if the Russian engineers went the extra verst instead of, "is good enough". Things may have gone differently in Korea...

And I've saddled up a Sabre before; very fine ride!

From what I've read, we "won" that contest because most of our pilots and command were combat experienced WWII veterans, and very aggressive. I've also read convincing arguments that the MiG might have been the "better" plane in many respects. Though, the Sabre has always been one of my most favorite aircraft of all time, so those arguments ring hollow to me.

Yea, that museum is great! Last time I was there I nearly died of dehydration from drooling so much, I was geeking out so bad! :ugeek:

One of the peculiar downsides to the Mig was from what I've read a problem with the canopy making it ice up on the inside behind your head, so much it was nearly impossible to check your six!
Model that DCS! Plzzz, cause these things climb like monkeys...
