I'm actually now inclined to upgrade to Freelancer, it looks so much better and has some more room inside!

Besides, we could make some money for Syndicate hauling cargo while the others fly as escort? :)

A little cross-fire from two of those Freelancer turrets in any running engagement sure would help as well. And no gravity drop either.

Some news that may be a little disappointing (but perhaps not surprising when you understand the limits) is that when you enter a planetary system and want to land, you will receive clearance and the actual landing will then be provided for you, I suppose with a procedural animation. You will not control your ship during these times to explore the planet surface as I had hoped. How one can smuggle goods onto a planet if you always have to land at a spaceport will be more, difficult, shall we say. Bribes?

I'm not sure if what you'll see when landing is 1st or 3rd person. It's an unfortunate game limit at this time, they simply cannot create enough detailed content such as planetary environments. Maybe third party can step in to create over time? I'd love to create a planet, Chez Bandy!

Otherwise it's going to be BIG, really BIG in that sandbox...

For landing on a planet, I can understand this. But I hope you will be able to land manually on a big star cruiser? As can be seen in the trailer on the Star Citizen's main webpage.

In Elite Dangerous on the other hand, planet landings will not be possible at all in the first release. It is something they plan for the future. But they do have space stations. Since in the Elite Dangerous universe there is no artificial gravity, these space stations usually rotate around an axis and you have to match the roll rate while slowly entering the docking port. This was already in the original Elite game, pretty cool! :) Once you have enough money for a docking computer the docking procedure can be automated.

Cutlass by Drake Interplanetary https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ship-specs

Drake Interplanetary claims that the Cutlass is a low-cost, easy-to-maintain solution for local in-system militia units. The larger-than-average cargo hold, RIO seat and dedicated tractor mount are, the company literature insists, for facilitating search and rescue operations. While it's true that Cutlasses are used throughout known space for such missions, their prime task and immediate association is with high space piracy.

I think this means piloting a Cutlass doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a pirate, but many people might think you are... Best that you become a citizen if you want a Cutlass, which means completing all the Squadron 42 missions first before going into the sandbox. Some people will by-pass Sq42 to get out into the 'verse first and get an edge, but you are sacrificing 'reliability' when encountering The Law.

I'm really considering joining the general madness on this one, seems there a lot of fun ahead playing this in multiplayer. Still quite undecided between the digital scout or digital mercenary package, if I understood correctly they're the same but the former doesn't give you access to the beta ?

Well you really want the alpha\beta, or otherwise it will be a long wait!

Currently, there is a hangar you can view your ship in, go inside or change armament/engines etc.
In December the dogfight module will be released so we can actually fly our ships from the hangar and enter a dogfight "arena" to fight against anyone/friends/AI (single player). This should be fun!

Ok, thanks for the explanation, guess it will be hard waiting while some of you will be having fun already, so I'll probably go with the alpha/beta access

Ricky, make sure you get one of the original backers to get you a ship, that way it has all the perks of an original backer (i.e. lifetime insurance).

Any one of us (and there are about 6 or so of us...) can do it for you, as long as you do it before Nov 26th deadline, and provide prompt pay back. I'm doing this for Haash right now.

Also, I think it would be a good idea to do so before Oct 10th, the anniversary of the crowd funding, since I think they'll be providing a special gift to those with accounts before then.

Just a guess though...
