Tonight I tested something interesting with Cygann: to be able to follow someone else using his " low energy wake". It works! and is pretty straightforward: If you follow someone in supercruise ( you can target your wingman) and he drops out of supercruise to investigate an " unidentified signal" you can see where he dropped because you'll see a " low energy wake". Target this, slow down when getting near and drop out of supercruise just as you would do when near a space station.

This way, we think we can work together to accept a "find and kill criminal X" type of mission. These can have huge bounties (150K) but are difficult targets to destroy alone.

It's not ideal, but we could already start flying and fighting together this way. Extraction sites and conflict zones are also good locations for some squad based action!

Good find, mind you I can take out a 148k anaconda in my viper alone :wink: did have to shoot off to the station and repair after the first pass then return and nail him :lol: class 2 beam lasers and class 1 dumb fire missile launchers FTW.

Yeah, I yet have to get into missiles and torpedoes! But I like a little teamwork, should be fun!

I'm currently in a system with a lot of extraction zones that have anaconda's do the mining and stupid Cobra's attacking them. I just have to get close, wait for the Anaconda to take down the pirate's shield and do some damage. Then I jump in and give the "coup the grace" and collect a 15,000 cr bounty. Very easy money, so this is now my best way of making money lol. I do hope they tune this down though because now it seems there is an endless supply of dumb pirates in there and it's killing the immersion...

Easiest money so far was today in my T6 hauler, 230k round trip between two systems :grin: it is very boring though, after 4 or 5 trips I go do something else.

Vander i knew that but how does it work?

Is it enough to scan the wake with the normal scanner and jump or do you need a special instrument like a scanner for this?

I believe for a low wake you can lock on to it with the ships scanner, only High speed wakes ie. going into Hyperdrive you need a high speed wake scanner.

Yes, that is what we found as well. I like this implementation, it reminds me of the techno babble in "Star Trek". :lol:

It is not the need as much as just playing together.

Any decent space sim was good fun in the past, but they all missed good coop play.

Then came Freelancer and it's coop and missions design was soooo much fun that I really wish for SC to happen just in hope some of Freelancer will end up in it.

And now we got Elite remake, and only thing missing is good coop mechanics ( TTT - target my targets target to do proper combat, match my target speed to do proper formation flying and escorts and give hyperjump control to the flight leader to move as a sqn trough stars). If they implement some or all of these and toss in some hard to do solo, but easier in coop missions, would be a dream come true (apart from really going in space :))

I agree. Hopefully all of this will come along in the future. I would also like ability to store cargo at one base (homebase) and to transfer money to other players. :cool:

Money transfer will never happen, it opens up the biggest exploit ever with Chinese gold farmers selling credits for cash, what an impact that will have on trading in game :???:
