Player selected ships 2015

The Amsterdam has made top 3 so will be included! It's not a proper man of war, but an armed merchant. Still, it will be interesting to use in open world I guess. It should be able to fend off pesky pirates! :)

I think in that thread someone who used to work in that 'museum' (or knew somebody who did) said they built that ship for tourists to walk about, in other words the in-between deck height is much too high, which of course changes a lot of things. Leave it up to the businessmen and safety code inspectors. Life would be better if the grognards ran the world. King gavagai anyone?

The devs are hoping to find more historically correct ship plans. Good to hear.

Looking forward to the Rattlesnake as well...

Yes, the Amsterdam replica is not an accurate replica (I have visited it once), but I'm sure they will use proper authentic plans for the model in the game. There is another Dutch museum/museum where they have built a proper 17th century ship " Batavia" using authentic tools & methods! It took them ages, but the result is a very authentic ship. I have visited the final ship and indeed the lower decks are very cramped with a low ceiling. You have to scuttle about on your knees almost! They are also building a ship of the line "De zeven provinciën" (the seven provinces) but it will take a while! However, these ships are from the 17th century, so not really useful in the game.
