Has anyone reached the elite rank so far?

I'm interested because we are mainly people with family and a job.

I'm now at 48% deadly in combat. But i'm always doing bounty hunting and no exploration or trading. It's a long way to the top!!

I'm at 90% Dangerous so still have a looong way to go. If I go into combat/bounty hunting for half an hour, sometimes I only progress 1% !!!! Like you said, I don't have time (and don't want) to play this game all day long, so I guess I need another year at least!

I did it!

I finally finished what I started as a teenager playing the original Elite game on my commodore 64: achieve the highest rank in the game: Elite!
