Postby SYN_Jedders » Fri Dec 23, 2011 11:31 am

Im rusty on the setup for 1946...

there is a mega patch, that takes you up to the required version in one go, think you will find it at mission for today, ill have a look for a link.

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... ls&id=4088

you then need UP 3.0, along with RC 2, RC3 and RC4, then your golden, again ill look for links.

Always make sure you have a clean install of the original on your harddrive and then copy that one and mod the copy.
One of the beauties of IL2 is that you can have as many copies of it as you want!

Well, I guess that depends what aspect you mean? Best would be to get on comms with Rep or someone from the old IL2 bunch and ask away. Otherwise I guess a bit more specific questions can be handled in here.

You will need to update is to the latest patch, which is 4.101 I believe.

You may need to download the earlier patches such as 4.08 and 4.09. Id does depend upon the version you buy.

VITALLY IMPORTANT POINT.

To fly on many servers IL2 needs modifying with MOD packs and such. Also, because its a bit older you can tweak a lot inside it (for instance on controls and GFX....especially GFX!!). For that reason you should create a copy of your install folder.

IL2 has no copy protection etc. so you can have as many copies as you like. What I strongly suggest is that as soon as you have it patched to the latest version you need to make a backup copy. Simply navigate to the install folder (in Win7 mine is C/IL2/IL2 1946 and copy the eintre IL2 1946 file and give it a new name.

This is then your pristine virgin copy which you NEVER modify. If in the future you find you have ruined the modified version you can then start again fresh. Il2 is like this, im sure we have all had to do this ourselves, I have!

Right, the steam version is 409m, so updated with 409 skinpack, 410 and 410-1, installed UP3.0 and incrementally installed UP3.0 RC2, RC3 and RC4.

Obviously it looks a bit pants ATM as the GFX needs tweaking also which mods in JSGME do I make active, there are a choice of four?

I need a conf.ini for ATI please, Per I think you and I are running similar systems I7 920 and ATI 6970 cards.

The main thing is I am getting in excess of 100 fps whereas with the DVD version I was lucky to get 40.

Links to offialpatches, in order! These take a clean install of IL2 1946, (which is version 4.07m) to the latest official patch.

4.08m

http://www.gamershell.com/download_17669.shtml

4.09m

4.10m

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... ls&id=3993

4.101

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... ls&id=4044

OR!!

A single mega patch that takes you from a virgin 4.07m install of 1946 to the latest official patch, 4.101 in one go. This replaces the above single patches. Apply only to a clean 4.07
